During winter, it is common to have dry lips. This is due to the cold air in circulation as a result of the generally cold weather. The cold air sucks moisture from our skin including the lips hence the resulting dry lips. On the other hand, winter, being a cold season, we want to be closer to the special people in our lives including our boyfriends and husbands whom we are likely to kiss at any given time. Of course, you do not want to be embarrassed by those dry lips and that is why I will provide you with the tips for maintaining kissable lips in winter.

Kissable lips are healthy lips characterizes by a well-moisturized appearance with no cracks, natural color, soft and tender look, smooth and a youthful look. To be precise, kissable lips are those lips that have experienced maximum attention as well as care from you.

Useful Tips For Kissable Lips

To attain the above-described lips despite the cold winter weather, the following tips will prove useful.

Exfoliate Your Lips

Exfoliating your lips using sugar and honey is highly recommended. By exfoliating your lips, they will receive moisture while at the same time have the dead and cracked skin sloughed off hence revealing that soft and moist skin. A handheld exfoliator may also be used if you have one in your possession.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 1tsp brown sugar (or raw cane sugar)
  • 1tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply the scrub to your lips with your finger and gently massage in circular motions. Wash off the scrub with warm water and apply a little lip balm to lock in moisture.

Bonus points: If you have a little jar, use it to store the leftover scrub!

You can also add in things like lemon, coconut, lavender, etc. The possibilities are endless so use your imagination and pamper yourself with a homemade and natural lip scrub!

AVOID LICKING YOUR LIPS

Licking your lips may sound a pretty good idea in relieving discomfort caused by chapped lips. On the contrary, this relief is just temporary and not worth trying. Saliva consists of enzymes hence by licking your lips, these enzymes break down the shiny lip skin barrier further causing irritation to your skin. Therefore if you want to attain that kissable lip look, I highly recommend that you stop licking your lips.

Keep A Moisturizer Within Reach

Lip balms are known for treating lips exposed to severe dryness by providing the necessary moisture and hydration to them. This serves to prevent dry and cracked lips thus keeping the lips replenished. To gain maximum benefits from lip balms, you are recommended to use those containing vitamin E, aloe, and essential oils.

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment

As much as possible, avoid balms that require the use of naked hands to apply. This is so as to minimize the chances of contaminating your lips which are most sensitive during the cold winter season. Instead, go for lip balms with sticks and other handheld applicators.

Layer Your Lips

To effectively take care of your lips, it is recommended to layer your balm beneath your lip color rather than the other way round. This is especially the case if you are a fan of matte lip color since it is known for revealing all sorts of lip details including the chips and dry spots.
