700 guests of Chanel lined park benches in the open air of the tree-lined Paseo del Prado in Cuba this weekend to view Lagerfeld’s RESORT 2017 collection. Leave it to Lagerfeld, who in recent years has implemented the trend of luxury brands journeying to far off places to reveal their collections, to land Cuba as his destination. Press arrived by air just 2 hours before the first US cruise ship docked in Havana in almost 40 years!
Guests of the event were taken to the the show through the streets of old Havana in a convoy of vintage open top automobiles indicative to those seen in film and photographs. Locals merged onto to the streets to celebrate what can only be called a wave of new relations between the communist country and the United States.
Lagerfeld delivered a show that achieved it all: a spectacular locale at a monumental turning point in international relations, and a collection that was lively, wearable and fun!
