New York Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, Feb. 6 in New York. Some high points for me were Spain’s Desigual collection and Erin Fetherston’s presentation at the W. Both ridiculously opposite of each other but both very alluring and quirky.
Desigual was bright, bold, flirty and fun sending their models down the runway in bouncy cheerful mini-dresses, short skirts and swing coats. The designs were filled with loud colors and prints. Even the models playfully walked down the catwalk spinning and blowing kisses at the audience.
ERIN FETHERSTON on the other hand came in with a certain decadence that screamed of an era long gone. The collection defined the charm school dresses of yesteryear but with a twist using modern lines, bold textures and interesting color choices. It was a ladylike event all the way down to the grand room at the W and the champagne filled glasses.
Both these shows will stick in my mind.
