Literally the HOUSE of DVF

In a twist, Diane von Furstenberg decided to hold her collection viewing at her second story west 14th street headquarters featuring super models dancing in her perfectly retro-fitted  Fall presentation. Even von Furstenberg joined in on the fun.

As the setup suggested, the collection itself was disco friendly. Kloss wore a gold sequin long wrap dress; Dunn’s was black with gold flecks. But it wasn’t just dance dresses. Beforehand, Von Furstenberg was doing interviews on the stairs. “I try to make friends for a woman’s closet,” she said. Downstairs, models were playing office to the sounds of “She Works Hard for the Money” in layered, daytime looks: a men’s vest over a bow-front blouse with a tweedy midi skirt; a printed silk shirt and matching printed silk pants. As always, there was a surfeit of print and color. With a presentation like this, the risk is that the clothes become secondary, or irrelevant. But this one energized Von Furstenberg and her team.

Since Diane von Furstenberg and the CFDA announced they were hiring the Boston Consulting Group to help them rethink the fashion show system, a rash of labels both in New York and in Europe have announced changes large and small to their delivery schedules. Von Furstenberg herself is offering several pieces from her new Fall collection for immediate sale after tonight’s presentation.
