Nicole Miller showed her newest collection for Spring at NYFW last night to a full crowd in the new venue Clarkson Square.
It was no surprise that Miller admitted she had found inspiration in her own urban surroundings and this inspiration carried through to her designs. “I kind of became obsessed with the grate pattern you see on loading gates,” said the designer, “I took a lot of things very literally from the street,” she said. Many of the prints were similar to graffiti brick walls, cross walks, and the grate pattern we readily walk around within the city. “I wanted it to have the grit of New York,” explained Miller.
Although the patterns were a new direction for Miller, the impeccable tailoring and silhouettes still remained.
