Two Words. Red Hot! When most of the designers this week at MBFW in New York were running up the blue, emerald and camel palette flagpole, Vivienne Tam pulled out a celebrated political statement on the night of the Chinese New Year. Tam citing the punk movement and pop art as influences, this collection had a 60s feel to it with a military flare…”China Chic” prevailed. Several pieces flowed with printed Chinese characters including the phrase “Wan Sui” meaning “long live”. One dress displayed the symbol for “Save Love Give,” an organization Tam has partnered with, which shows people how to both donate to charity and how to save money. All and all I have to say I loved it. From the opening model all the way down to the crazy electronica that thumped our seats!
