All face plants and jewelry at Givenchy’s first New York Show

It was a gorgeous night  as the Givenchy show took stage in lower Manhattan christening the brand’s first collection to be shown in NY during fashion week.and the marking of a new flagship store to be opened. As more than a thousand people traversed the rush hour packed West Side Highway and poured onto Pier 26—all dressed to the nines however, it’s fair to say that one of the very last things they were expecting was to be immersed in a contemplative moodset . yet this is what designer Riccardo Tisci  delivered on the 14th anniversary of 9/11.

All of the rumors of high priced showboats performing on the stage were just that…. rumors.  Instead what viewers were met with was an hour long mood inducing reflection on freedom and solidarity.  And did I mention Models falling all over place?  The stage which was made of  teared wooden palettes and resurrected recycled materials were a little tricky as some models slipped and even tumbled.  Poor Candice Swanepoel, check out her fall on the runway when her shoe apparently pulled apart while she was walking.

Needless to say, it was a stellar event worthy of the Fashion House and one that will definitely go down in history as a memorable experience.
